Do you like the idea of helping parents save for their children's future college expenses? Would you find it rewarding to help others plan for retirement in their golden years? If so, a career as a Financial Advisor may be a great fit for you.

As a Financial Advisor, you will create long-lasting relationships with your clients. You'll listen carefully to understand their financial situation and help them set short-term and long-term goals. Then you'll help them build plans so they can turn their goals into reality. You'll help them select investments such as stocks and bonds that match their needs and help them grow their wealth. Part of your role is to educate clients so they understand what they need to do to meet their goals. This can range from budgeting and saving money to more complex issues like investments, insurance, and tax matters.

To become a Financial Advisor, you'll need to be licensed in series 7, 63 and 65 to become a Financial Advisor. Many organizations will start you off in a training program to help you pass the exams and get on your way. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify customer financial goals by talking with and listening to clients
  • Analyze information to recommend products and services to help clients meet their goals
  • Create individual investment plans for clients
  • Set regular meetings with clients to review goals and progress
  • Build strong relationships with new and existing clients to meet sales goals
  • Refer client to other lines of business, like mortgages, as needed
  • Follow all applicable banking and investment laws, regulations, company polices, and procedures
